LEE: Was it harder to defend your win from last year? GEORGE: Ya it was. The first brackets were super tough with me suppose to face Riley and Andrew in the first few rounds. We decided it was lighten up one side of the brackets but I still had to face Andrew MacCannell last years 2nd place finisher. Everything was good after I won Andrew's heat, until I met Grizz who ended up leading but crashed going to hot into a corner. The final with Riley was hella tight but I was happy to gain the inside and he gave me the room. After looking at the footage I was really surprised I actually stuck the line on that final corner.
LEE: What are you going to do with the $1000 cash prize? GEORGE: I bought a plane ticket to Cathamet Downhill Corral and Ill be headed back down to SoCal Mercado in the van and spend as much time down there skating.
LEE: I heard you gave grizz $50 for 4th? GEORGE : Ya man, some times you got to help a brother out. Peeps helped me out before. One example would be at Vernon this year when guys like Simon Pigeon, Jacko and Steve Lange made sure I got registered.
LEE: What is it about that course that makes it your type? GEORGE: I try to float all the lefties where other would foot break, basically I tried to stick as much as possible.
LEE: Does Edmonton hate it when a Calgarians win their races? GEORGE: Na, Jon Brodie had the fastest time, Jaccob Dunton should get mention, as does Nick Breton in 3rd.
(Riley won the first year and George has won the last 2).
LEE: What happen the first year you let Riley beat ya? GEORGE: I didnt make it I was surfing in Halifax
LEE: Whats next? Cathlamet and Cali
LEE: Winter? GEORGE: Work and Cali, hopefully more Cali then work
LEE: Who you been sessioning with? GEORGE: Tony, Riley, Jeff, Frank.
George encourages you all to come to Alberta and ride his turf. George rides for Sector 9 Skateboards and Aera Trucks.
